Red Knot
Listed as federally endangered, this bird is a plump sandpiper. In the breeding season they have a red/orange head and underside, with brown, gold, black and white upperparts. In non-breeding birds, the underside is a muted grey/white. These birds migrate from Tierra del Fuego/Patagonia up to the Canadian Arctic, making stops to feed and rest on the shore of western/northern Newfoundland.
